a feathered circus →
as he rang up our green wine and chocolate covered treats for the road, the tattooed fella at a trader joes in albuquerque told us about this circus from his home. all the way to cali we’ve been having dreams of running away to europe, where lila can fan her feathers french style, and norah can learn to ride horses standing up.

a last warm thank you and farewell to maine, until we meet again….
its a video, #1 : lila and her cousins hail a cab
performance #12: the ledge
the Living Daylights (our darling, feral musician bakers from Tinder Hearth Bakery in Brooksville, Maine) sailed alongside a trio of circus mermaids to our granite ledge, where we howled, danced, and re-enacted the sinking of the royal tar, until our trumpetings forced the sun down.

performance #11: valley of stars
blessed to be in the mix of other creative workforces (www.tinderhearth.org), we told the story of a love sick nightengale who discovers many beasts, but never her lover. set to sitar, on persian rugs, low light, kids and grey hairs alike, in an old maine barn.
performance #10: watchable wildlife
a zoo quest to paradise, narrated by an expert of british and east indian accents, 6 wild creatures fought, loved and danced themselves in lulls in a historic ‘knights of pithias’ building. vinalhaven, maine.

lila is directing a non-profit children’s art program, teaching young ones how to make wings and tails and fly away with their brightness.
both are exhausted, elated and broke. wish us money...

elisofon residency
we make, eat and sleep in the energy midst of a legendary photographer, eliot elisofon. his daughter elin, our mother, works her own art magic through plants, creatures and textures abound and supports our creative endeavors with georgous work spaces, collections, and unlimited black tea and chocolate.
here are some inspiring photos of his. we make art in art. what a space for us. blessed.

serenity in the art
in the midst of heavy chaos circus building 4th of july float production, there is so much silent beauty for us here on this island. blooming lilies in sunshine, fog, and windy seas persist even when we hide away to make masks.
WE MADE IT!

teepee glam
we get lost all day trying to get out of the city and find a teepee and friends in the woods of new york. they like to talk about stars and trust falls and goats in the dark. lila tries to play footsie with a man in a skirt. things are getting weird. the teepee is gold on the inside and we both feel like pocahontas. one day away.

new york city
we drive the van through manhattan.
we find our friend and paint naked and take old photos for a sacred art moment in his beautiful home.
we explore in sequins and boots and rain.
art can be empty here… we are happy with our art life.
